Tree Canopy Management Affects Dynamics of Herbaceous Vegetation and Soil Moisture in Silvopasture Systems Using Arboreal Legumes

چکیده
Understanding ecological interactions between the arboreal and herbaceous components is key to get full benefits from silvopastoral systems. The objective of this 2-yr research was evaluate productivity nutritive value signalgrass (Urochloa decumbens (Stapf.) R. Webster) subjected shading tree legumes Gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium (Jacq.) Steud) or Mimosa (Mimosa caesalpiniifolia Benth.) under different canopy management. Trees were planted in double rows either unharvested harvested only one row, leaving other row unharvested. Response variables for vegetation included height, herbage mass (green leaf blade, green stem, senescent leaves, stem), accumulation rate, bulk density, soil moisture. Total mass, affected by treatment × month harvest management interactions. Herbage rate greater (55 kg DM ha−1d−1) than (32 ha−1d−1). Soil moisture lesser at sites (16.2%) compared with ones (17.2%), it (21.9%) sun (11.5%), varying across season. Harvesting had a short-term transient effect on responses. Tree can affect forage quantity quality; however, these effects are vary spacing. Signalgrass grew faster better when growing Gliricidia.

Investigation of vegetation changes using Soil Moisture Index in Gavkhouni wetland
Gavkhouni wetland located in the center of Iranchr('39')s Plateau is one of the important habitat for native flora and fauna. The present study aimed to evaluate change trend of vegetation types and Soil Moisture Index in Gavkhouni wetland since recent 16 years. Vegetation types were identified via field visitation during 2011-2017 and the maps were generated in ArcGIS 10.5. SMI is derived us...
متن کاملEstimation of Herbaceous Fuel Moisture Content Using Vegetation Indices and Land Surface Temperature from MODIS Data
The monitoring of herbaceous fuel moisture content is a crucial activity in order to assess savanna fire risks. Faced with the difficulty of managing wide areas of vegetated surfaces, remote sensing appears an attractive alternative for terrestrial measurements because of its advantages related to temporal resolution and spatial coverage. Earth observation (EO)-based vegetation indices (VIs) an...
متن کاملTopographic controls on snow distribution, soil moisture, and species diversity of herbaceous alpine vegetation, Niwot Ridge, Colorado
[1] The nature of the snowpack has the potential to strongly influence the patterns of alpine plant productivity and composition by governing soil moisture levels, growing season duration and the thermal regime of alpine soils. This study evaluates these relationships by modeling the interrelationships of snow depth, snow water equivalent (SWE), snow disappearance rate, soil moisture, attribute...
متن کاملSoil moisture affects fatty acids and oil quality parameters in peanut
Drought affects yield of peanut, but its effect on oleic and linoleic acids that influence its oil quality of peanut genotypes with different levels of drought resistance has not been clearly investigated. Therefore, the aims of this research were to determine whether soil water levels could affect oil quality by changes in fatty acid compositions of peanut, and to investigate the changes i...
متن کاملStudying Short-Time Dynamics of Vegetation and Soil Organic Carbon in a Semi-arid Rangeland (Case Study: Zharf, Khorasan Province, Iran)
Abstract. Rangeland vegetation dynamics encompass all processes of changes in vegetation composition and structure over time. Investigating the rangeland ecosystem dynamics makes it possible to determine the effects of climatic and management conditions on qualitative and quantitative changes of the vegetation in a specific period of time. Accordingly, data collection and measurements for evalu...
